Discussion question response 3

The video that was most useful to me was 2.1, those simple breathing exercises. One could quickly pause in the middle of their speech and calm their nerves discreetly. This could help your recollect your thoughts on the fly.

I guess real estate agents have always been correct in stating “it is all about location, location, location”. The location can affect how you deliver a speech. For example if you have a podium you would not walk around to point to your visual aid. Nevertheless both videos provide grate tips to get you comfortable before delivering a speech. For me the breathing tips could help me a lot.

  1. Hey Tharma!
In a way, the breathing tips would help out, but I can't picture myself pausing for that long just to slowly breathe and recollect myself.
I'd get more nervous, because everyone's probably wondering what I'm doing.
Of course, not our comm class though obviously, because we've all seen the video. :]
I do stop and say "wait" and try to correct myself, but that's the only pausing that I've done. Maybe I’ll actually try out if I stumble on my speeches. At least everyone will know why I’m pausing and breathing.

As for the location thing, I don’t know if that would affect me so much. I’ve been given speeches from a lot of locations. They all seem the same to me, because with all of them there was always a big audience; so all of my focus was always on them, rather than the location. But I can see why being familiar with your location would help nonetheless.
